3. What is the age group of kids that this is recommended for?
This is probably one of the best features of the hunt - it was specifically designed for kids of all ages - from preschool to high school. Grandparents love these hunts too. Here's a few reasons why:
- First, the clues are not written as riddles so you don't have to be smarter than a 5th grader to solve them. Here is a sample of a typical clue. (This clue is not actually used in any of the treasure hunts.)
The New Cathedral is highlighted with gold
The number of angels in the central dome is untold.
Go to the sanctuary and count them one by one
Then enter the number here when you are done:
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
3 14 28
As you can see, a five-year-old or a fifteen-year-old would be able to solve this clue.
If you go to the New Cathedral and count the angels in the central dome, you would discover that there are sixteen. You would write "sixteen" in the space provided.
You'll notice that below the blanks are various numbers. Once you have solved all of the clues, your next step will be to open the small envelope where you will find a note with a series of numbers written on it. To view this, click here By transferring the letters from the clues that correspond to the numbers in the encrypted message, you will spell out a message explaining where the missing key is located.
The description of all of this is more complicated then actually doing it. Additionally, your treasure hunt package will include a complete Double Key Treasure Hunt Guide which will give you complete details on every element of your hunt. .
- Secondly, the locations you will be going to are designed for family fun. The Zoo, Grant's Farm, the Botanical Gardens, the museums, - they all offer something for everyone. The younger kids will enjoy the trip while the older kids will appreciate more of the history and the adventure.
- Here's what Beckie Maislin, from St. Louis Kid's Magazine, had to say after taking her nine-year-old and eleven-year-old daughters on a Double Key Treasure Hunt: "If you choose to go somewhere as a family, it's difficult to find something that everyone will enjoy, but this was different. We were all excited about the experience. I don't think we’ve ever experienced something like that where we're working together as a family to hunt for clues. It was neat to see the kids get involved like that."
- And here's another comment from a satisfied mom: "For my daughter's sixteenth birthday party we rented a mini-bus and went on the half-day Double Key Treasure Hunt with 14 of her friends. It was so wonderful. Everybody loved it. The girls said it was the best birthday party they had ever been to. I would definitely recommend it."
