How It Works

Using authentic, antique items we will create a complete treasure hunt package for you as if it was from an original Double Key Treasure Hunt Society member back in 1929. We have taken care of all the extensive leg-work in preparing your clues so the adventure is completely turn-key for you. There are no clues for you to hide and no treasure you have to bury. Everything is already done for you.

When your unmarked package arrives by Priority Mail, it will include your treasure hunt kit as well as a complete how-to guide. Your kit will come in an old 12" x 20" burlap bag which is designed to look like it was sitting neglected in an attic for 80+ years. Inside the burlap bag will be some very old, very real pieces of American history such as:

  • A 1904 postcard
  • Your Double Key Treasure Hunt Society Member's photograph from the mid-1800's
  • A newspaper or music newsletter from 1882
  • An early 1900's gold certificate that is now obsolete
  • A gingham bag with a few marbles in it
  • A stereoview

As well as:

  • An old tin of coffee
  • The letter with the clues from the Double Key Treasure Hunt Society Member inviting your treasure hunters to go on this treasure hunt
  • And another item or two

To see a sample of the treasure hunt contents, please view the video at the top. Again, because no two kits are exactly alike, the items in your kit will not be the same but this gives you an idea of what to expect.

Your Double Key Treasure Hunt letter will: introduce the Double Key Treasure Hunt Society and invite your treasure hunters to go on a treasure hunt. It will explain that they are searching for a small but real treasure that is hidden in a secret location. In order to find the treasure they will have to solve a series of clues. Some of the clues will be solved using the contents of the burlap bag, other clues will require you to visit public locations in the city you select to solve the clues. Once all the clues are solved, your treasure hunters will be able to easily decode a message that will explain where their treasure is hidden.

What is the Treasure?
Well, what's more fun then finding real gold? Once the treasure is uncovered, your hunters will find a small, white muslin pouch marked with the Double Key logo. Inside the pouch is a 3" glass vial that contains real gold dust and flakes. One vial of gold is included in your package. Included with your treasure hunt kit will also be a comprehensive Double Key Guide to conducting your hunt. Our goal is to make your adventure as easy and fun as possible. Your guide will include:

  • A detail of each clue, the clue solution and instructions on how to solve the clue in case you have any questions.
  • Profile information on each of the locations you will be visiting to find your clue answers - history of the location, hours of operation, admission fees (if any), address and directions.
  • Special ideas on ways to maximize your fun at each location.

The day you're ready to launch your treasure hunt, simply take your burlap bag containing your treasure hunt items and hide the bag in your basement or out in the garage and then help your treasure hunters "accidentally" discover it. You could also just bring it home one day and say you bought it at a garage sale.
