Meredith Mathews St. Louis Treasure Hunt Package
In this package you will be visiting the following locations to solve your treasure hunt: The Botanical Gardens, Whittle Train Store, the Jewel Box, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, the Transportation Museum, Whitehaven (President Grant's home which is near Grant's Farm), the Zoo and Chatillon-DeMenil House.
Your treasure hunt package will also include a complete guide that will explain everything you need to know about each location - address, hours, and ideas on how to make your visit extra special. Please note: there are four locations listed below that have admission fees and those are not included in the price of your treasure hunt package.

The Missouri Botanical Gardens:
Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Gardens is a National Historic Landmark with 79 acres of scenic landscaping and elegant structures. As you search for the answer to your clue, don't miss the Climatron tropical rain forest, the Japanese garden, the new Children's garden and Pioneer Village as well as founder Henry Shaw's Victorian home. (The Botanical Gardens has an admission fee.) |

Whittle Shortline Train Store:
Originally built as the Frisco Hotel in 1880 for the Frisco Railroad crews who were pushing tracks westward across Missouri, this building now is the home of the Whittle Shortline Railroad. The Whittle Shortline Railroad is a hand-crafted wooden train factory and toy train store. Step inside this historic building and you'll find one of the largest displays of wooden trains and train tracks to play with. A great place to play and go clue searching. |

The Jewel Box:
The Jewel Box was built by the City of St. Louis with unconventional, vertical glass walls. The main display room is 50 feet high, 55 feet wide and 144 feet long and contains about 7,500 square feet of floor space. The Jewel Box has special flower shows, tropical trees, foliage plants, a new water feature... and is a great location to go clue hunting. The Jewel Box has an admission fee. |

Ted Drewes Frozen Custard:
This is a St. Louis tradition on Old Route 66 since 1929. Ted Drewes is known for special “concrete” shakes that are so thick you can turn them upside down. And after finding the answer to the clue hidden here, why not celebrate with a frozen custard?

The Transportation Museum:
According to the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of Transportation has "...one of the largest and best collections of transportation vehicles in the world." While you search for the answer to your clue, you can climb into the cab of a real engine, view a great classic car collection or take a ride on the trolley or miniature train. (There is an admission fee.) |

White Haven:
Ulysses S. Grant is known as the victorious Civil War general who saved the Union and the 18th President of the United States. He first met Julia Dent, his future wife, at her family home, named White Haven. Today, this home commemorates the life of his family against the turbulent backdrop of the nineteenth century. Once you solve this clue you may want to continue your fun at nearby Grant's Farm. |

The St. Louis Zoo:
Search for an answer to your clue among 5000 animals from 700 species on 90 acres. Take a walk in the wild where elephants are at play, cheetahs dart across a dry plain and hyenas watch warily by. From the polar icecaps to tropical rain forests, you can see penguins, bears great apes and more. The St. Louis zoo also offers an insectarium, a children's zoo, and a miniature train ride. |

Chatillon-DeMenil House:
The Chatillon-DeMenil Mansion is one of St. Louis' most interesting historic homes. Originally built in 1848 by Henri Chatillon and later updated in 1861, the Chatillon-DeMenil Mansion features guided tours, a gift shop, a café, and the largest permanent collection of memorabilia from the 1904 World's Fair. Take a step back in time as you take a step closer to finding your the answer to your clue. (There is an admission fee.) |
